My Story

The path that led to the development of a true

artist who shows passion in every creation.

this path has been a long endeavor for Capt. Chris MicKey as he grew up starting at a new school every grade.

His love and passion for the ocean has become the

essence of his inspiration in a world of creative

chaos. The journey began to take a positive

direction when his English teacher asked if she

could buy the first painting he created. At that

point Chris realized he had a talent that would

potentially bring him the joy of doing something

he was passionate about. After graduating High School in 2001, Chris began his pursuit towards his vision of inner peace and the ability to connect the question of who he is and what he does. His Father Capt. Greg Mickey did not support the decision to give his passion of art a chance to thrive. Chris was then faced with the decision to go to either Cape Fear CC or join the Coast Guard. Chris stayed in school and took every art class he could from Drawing I and II, Sculpture I and II, and taking Graphic Design classes at Wake Tech CC while he was taking classes at North Carolina State University at the same time. When Chris returned to NC while finishing his degree in Arts an unimaginable nightmare occurred on Fathers Day 2005. Reports were given to his step mother Julia that was revealed to Chris that his father and two of his father's dive buddies were scuba diving that day 23 miles offshore and only one diver returned. After the search ended, Capt. Greg Mickey was never to be seen again. This was the time when Chris created the company called The C.A.S.M. which was short for the CoAsTAL AtMoSphEriC SoUL MoVeMeNt in honor of his father. For the next 20 years Chris used his artistic talents to build a name for himself as an artist like no one before him. The goals that Chris made for himself came to fruition quite quickly. He found himself on stage at various music venues live painting. The band venues ranged from his local pubs to many amphitheater in front of massive crowds to give them a unique visual experience that was added to the performance by Chris's favorite bands.
